Great Clips Owner Unite Communications Across All Her Salons
Background
Melody Sanders owns three Great Clips salons—Decatur, Azle, and Crowley in Texas. Melody used a number of tools to communicate with her team and sync on scheduling, but she needed one app that could keep every stylist, manager, and team member in sync without drowning everyone in noise. Breakroom became that single source of truth after switching over from the Crew App.
Main Challenges
Some of the main challenges Melody faced included:
- Finding a simple yet effective replacement for the Crew App that all of her stylists can use without a significant amount of onboarding or ramp time
- Managing scheduling and communications across multiple locations and making sure stylists have access to their salons while Melody has access to all three salons
- Finding replacements for stylists who can’t make it to work would require Melody and her managers to talk to each employee which takes a lot of time
- Restricting time off requests for certain days like holidays and busy times
- Sharing important information with the team such as emergency contact information
Main Solutions
Breakroom helped Melody with the following solutions:
- Separate accounts for each salon to keep communications relevant and organized
- Multi-location access gives Melody full control over her salons ,while her stylists have partial access or access to just one salon
- A mobile app that was easy to use for employees of all ages and different levels of technological know-how
- Shift coverage functionality that allows team members to find coverage for shifts they can’t make and for managers to approve those requests
- Blackout dates to limit time off requests for certain days of the year
The Outcome
- Easy, unified communications across all of Melody’s Great Clips salons
- Simplified communications and decreased frequency of missed messages
- Employees at each salon have direct channels of communication with managers and the owner
- Stylists can find someone to cover for their shifts directly in the Breakroom app
